Things to do in Dharamkot: Top tips from a solo traveller

Standing on the crest of a hill overlooking McLeodganj, the tiny Himachali village of Dharamkot is to travellers and backpackers today what McLeodganj was some years ago – a tranquil haven offering a welcome respite from the bustle of more touristy towns. You visit Dharamkot for the views and stay for the vibe. I stayed in Dharamkot for two weeks in October, and by the end of the trip, I was wishing I could stay there forever. Travelling to Bir: Himachal’s offbeat gem

I didn’t know a lot about Bir till last year – popular tourist narratives around the must-visit places in Himachal tend to center around destinations like Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala, and others. I had heard about the town but didn’t really know what I was missing, till I travelled there after visiting Dharamkot. I spent a long weekend in Landour in the spring and came back completely head over heels in love— blown away by the beauty of the tiny cantonment hill station, and the relative quiet I was able to find there.

The ones who are worth the worry, won’t judge you. The ones who do, aren’t worth it anyway. 2. The world’s ideas about wrong and right will keep changing. Follow your own moral compass. 3. If something is worth doing, then it sure as hell is worth doing well. 4. Life is too short to waste time doing something that doesn’t bring happiness.
